Job Description
The Trade Compliance Specialist will perform due diligence on Sanctioned Countries, conduct Denied Party Screening, determine import/export tariff codes, and support the team to ensure compliance with customs and government regulations.
This role will also involve supporting trade-sanctioned country management and acquisition-related projects, contributing to compliance improvement initiatives, and implementing best business practices.
Key Responsibilities:
* Evaluate trade rules and regulations in related jurisdictions and ensure compliance with Import & Export regulations.
* Determine Tariff classifications & ECCN of all products imported or exported.
* Perform DPL / RPL screening for new customers or changes in existing customers.
* Assist with trade-sanctioned country due diligence and review Letters of Credit in line with current regulations.
* Monitor Global Trade Management (GTM) system for transactions on hold and take timely action.
* Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to support customer needs.
* Stay updated on changes in import/export regulations and documentation requirements.
* Determine products' Country of Origin and Free Trade Agreement eligibility.
* Lead import/export transactions and ensure compliance with U.S., EU, and foreign government requirements.
* Implement and maintain trade compliance programs, procedures, and policies.
* Support Trade Compliance Managers with data collection and analysis for audits and investigations.
* Develop reports and analytics to support ongoing compliance monitoring.
* Perform quality review of compliance reports and analytics.
* Investigate shipment delays related to documentation or certificates.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree required; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
* Export Certification or Customs brokerage license preferred.
* Ability to work in a matrix team environment.
* Working knowledge of ERP systems, Oracle preferred.
* Experience with Global Trade Management Software is a plus.
* Proficiency in global tariff classification and ECCN codes.
* Knowledge of international export compliance regulations and sanctioned party screening processes.
* Familiarity with EU Dual-Use Regulation and UK equivalent regulations is a plus.
* Experience in documenting and implementing global trade policies and procedures.
* Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in English.
* 3–5 years of relevant experience in trade compliance.
* Ability to work independently.
* Proficiency in database management and tools such as MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Power BI, and Oracle.
