Hitachi Energy is developing and producing sophisticated protection, control and communication solutions for the energy industry. Within an international environment of multiple R&D sites distributed all over the world, we want to strengthen our R&D team with an ambitious PMO Lead and Project Manager.
We are looking for a passionate personality with a proven record in R&D Project Management and a background in specific R&D disciplines, preferably with some years of experience in Hardware Development.
You will oversee the entire project from both a technical and administrative perspective. While reporting the project progress in the Steering Committee and our project reporting tools, you will dive deeply into the technical topics of the project, challenging the R&D teams on their offered solutions. You will be familiar with all the different R&D Development disciplines such as HW, ESW, NMS, FPGA, EMC, and Mechanics.
As a pivotal point between R&D development teams, R&D Management, Product Management, and Technical Support, you will have the end-to-end view of the product, overseeing the entire system from the customer point of view.
Working closely with our Product Management, you will challenge the Market Requirement Specifications, compile the Technical Requirements, and ensure agreement between R&D and Product Management.
How you will make an impact
1. Take over the Project Lead of the 100G Central Unit development of our Fiber Optic Multiplexer System FOX615, which is a crucial project for Wired Communication.
2. Investigate the technical solutions and challenge the R&D Team's proposals on the system architecture.
3. Challenge the Market Requirements from Product Management in case of controversial topics.
4. Act as an interface between Product Owners, Global Technology Manager Wired Communication, and Product Management. In a second phase, establish a PMO organization within the Wired Communication Product Line.
5. Establish a project management organization that significantly improves time-to-market, budget adherence, and quality.
6. Ensure proper Risk Management that identifies common and project-specific risks and addresses their effects on the projects, as well as decent mitigation actions.
7. Ensure the working quality of the PMO organization, evolving skills required by the team to support the development of future products and systems.
8. Foster a climate of innovation by motivating, guiding, and empowering team members.
9. Support the development team with technical expertise and project management skills.
10. In the mid-term, extend to the AC R&D organization, currently comprising more than 500 R&D Engineers worldwide.
11. Be an active and creative part of cross-functional projects supporting us in our continuous improvement mission.
12. Identify new technologies and tools to increase quality and productivity.
13. Support us in our Innovation Initiative journey to identify new technical trends and solutions that are essential for us to stay ahead of our competition and lead in our markets.
Your background
1. Bachelor or Master/Diploma or advanced degree in electronics engineering or related disciplines.
2. Broad project management knowledge and experience in all project management competence elements.
3. Advanced Practitioner with 5-10 years of work experience, including 3 years of project management experience in responsible leadership functions in projects of varying complexity.
4. Good knowledge of an underlying R&D development discipline (HW, ESW, NMS, FPGA), preferably in Hardware Development.
5. Solid qualifications in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or Information Technology.
6. Knowledge of environmental standards and/or utility-specific standards is advantageous.
7. Experience in international and cross-cultural collaboration and leadership.
8. Excellent oral and written English skills.
9. MI/PMP Project Manager Certification or equivalent would be advantageous.
