The job description for a part-time online adjunct faculty member at Geneva College has been reimagined to provide clarity and coherence.
This role is responsible for teaching online nutrition classes, including but not limited to BIO 218 : Introduction to Nutrition. The instructor will provide quality instruction to students through well-prepared classes, relevant assignments, fair and holistic assessments of learning, and clear documentation of student progress.
Essential Responsibilities:
* Teach assigned contact hours per semester with adequate preparation time.
* Provide clear course expectations, evaluations, and timelines to students through topical outlines and approved syllabi.
* Develop interesting and relevant assignments that demonstrate learning outcomes in real-life settings.
* Engage students in their learning, challenge them suitably, and communicate effectively to encourage participation and mutual respect.
* Provide timely grades to students through college software and upload mid-term and final grades by college deadlines.
* Respond to student questions promptly.
* Ensure course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the syllabus.
Specific Responsibilities:
* Assess student work thoroughly and provide substantive feedback in a timely manner.
* Incorporate faith-based discussions into class forums to foster spiritual growth.
* Participate in online faculty development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.
* Communicate effectively with students and ODP staff regarding student concerns or issues.
* Proactively participate in online classroom activities to promote student engagement.
* Notify ODP staff of any curricular or course administration issues in a timely manner.
* Collaborate with ODP student success coaches to address student concerns.
Qualifications:
* A master's degree from an accredited U.S. college/university in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field, or a master's degree with 18 graduate credit hours in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field.
* Prior teaching experience, particularly with online populations, is desirable, although training and support are provided by Geneva College ODP staff.
* Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational and planning abilities, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products.
* A Christian Commitment: The candidate must be a thoughtful and articulate Christian, an active member of a Protestant evangelical Christian church, and understand and support the College's 'Foundational Concepts of Christian Education'.
