Job Description:
About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Product Care Team in Rotkreuz, Switzerland.
The Product Care Team is responsible for developing, characterizing, and optimizing electrochemical sensors for medical devices used in in-vitro diagnostics. Our focus areas include gas (O2 & CO2), electrolyte (pH, Na+, K+, Ca2+ & Cl-), and metabolite (Glucose & Lactate) analysis in whole blood.
To deliver innovative instruments to hospitals and testing laboratories, we employ various measuring principles, including electrochemical, optical, and enzymatic methods. Our team develops new sensors by understanding theoretical fundamentals and applying them to create advanced sensor designs.
In addition to developing new sensors, the Product Care Team supports series production with technical expertise and addresses any issues related to existing products.
Responsibilities
* Product Care and Development: Address product care topics arising in Sensor Production, such as production issues and customer complaint investigations.
* Sensor Design and Implementation: Implement changes based on fundamental principles, experimental data, and simulation models to develop new and existing products.
* Project Planning and Execution: Plan, execute, evaluate results, and document work independently within development, product care, and operations support frameworks.
* Lab Testing and Analysis: Test and analyze sensor design using various characterization methods, working independently in a multidisciplinary team to generate required data and documentation.
* Equipment Maintenance and Development: Take responsibility for equipment and develop new tools, methods, and processes to evaluate our sensors.
* Scientific Support and Collaboration: Provide scientific expertise and practical knowledge to understand and solve technical questions in development and production of complex electrochemical sensors and electrodes.
* Cross-Functional Coordination: Interact with quality, operation, V&V, and business teams to support and coordinate design and material changes.
* Additional Responsibilities: Depending on project needs and product care situation, support sensor development activities in new development projects.
Minimum Requirements
* Educational Background: Higher technical education (bachelor or master from FH/University/ETH) in chemistry, physics, material science, or engineering.
* Understanding of Materials: Understanding of materials (glasses, metals, polymers, and other chemicals) and their interactions with sensors and biological samples.
* Interest in Electrochemistry: Interested and dedicated to studying, testing, and improving electrochemical/optical (bio)sensors and learning to understand their behavior and associated material properties.
* Regulated Environment Experience: Experience working in a highly regulated environment.
* Multidisciplinary Teamwork: Experience working in and contributing to multidisciplinary development from varied fields with diverse backgrounds.
* Documentation and Communication: Ability to document results at a high technical level: actively report data, results, ideas, and achievements. Communicate in English; German is an advantage.
* Technical Skills: Experience with the development of new characterization methods, implementing them in test methods, setups, or tools, and acquiring, processing, and analyzing data with appropriate tools (Matlab, Excel, MiniTab, R, Python).
* Personal Qualities: Open, flexible, team-oriented, and takes ownership. Experience in different electrochemical methods (potentiometry, impedance spectroscopy, etc.) is an advantage, as well as broader physical and chemical analysis, and motivated to use and improve these skills in the laboratory.
