About the role
Maersk Energy Markets acts as the sourcing arm for Maersk in terms of supply, storage, purchase and delivery of fuel and energy. The department handled approximately 11m metric tons of fuel purchases during 2023 including green fuels such as biofuel and methanol. With fuel being one of Maersk´s main operating costs, Energy Markets focuses on optimizing it along various channels, including blending, tolling and barging. We are a mixture of talented, passionate professionals, traders and industry experts.
Maersk Energy Markets consists of around 70 employees located in a handful of offices around the world - from New York, Singapore, Rotterdam, Geneva to Copenhagen. The department is part of Maersk’s Energy Transition organization working to reach Maersk´s net-zero target by 2040.
You will be an integral part of our dynamic Front Office team, handling bunker fuel deliveries to Maersk´s Ocean fleet and other 3rd parties in Europe. You will have an important operational role in optimizing the commercial outcomes whilst ensuring delays to customer vessels are minimized. There will thus be a strong need to work hand-in-hand with Trading as partners to fulfill customer demand in the best overall way.
You will liaise with a broad network of with external counterparties such as suppliers, agents, terminal customer service, barge companies, surveyors and authorities to ensure deliveries run smoothly.

Key responsibilities
Your main focus will be to work with the Europe Operations team to own activities required for a smooth and continuous operation of barges, terminals and other assets we operate. You will be at the center of the action and co-ordinate closely with internal and external counterparties.
Key tasks;
5. Delivery planning, manage supply/demand and timely schedule loads and deliveries from suppliers & terminals, as well as play a big part in the preparation of blending.
6. Close communication with Trading on planning of product movements to evaluating commercial impact of decisions.
7. Liaise with and build relationships with barge personnel and other service providers.
8. Conduct quality and quantity controls to ensure we deliver on-spec fuel and have an adequate loss control on the full flow of the product.
9. Monitoring, improving and optimizing the performance of the barge operations, making sure barges are planned in the best possible way to minimize idle time of barge capacity.
10. Stay on top of barge maintenance and/or docking schedules whilst maintaining contingency plans for off-hire events.
11. Review and approve OPEX costs related to overall end-to-end delivery process under your scope.
12. Track and own barge demurrage on physical movements ensuring claims are raised before being time-barred.
13. Support Finance in month-end process under your scope including stock reconciliation and final gain/loss.
What are we looking for
14. A commercially minded, energetic and pro-active self-starter with good attention to detail who is familiar with operating in a fast paced, multicultural environment.
15. You have direct experience in areas of Oil & Gas operations, bunker barge operations and servicing customers in a BTB environment.
16. An academic education in commerce, administration, shipping & logistics or equivalent industry experience.
17. You are an Individual who is motivated to always look for ways to improve and deliver better commercial results, have a collaborative and transverse mindset, great team spirit and positive attitude.
18. Fluent in both written and spoken English. Fluency in Dutch is a plus.
