As the deputy of the head of global corporate communications and philanthropy, you will serve as a strategic advisor and communications leader across key areas of corporate reputation, executive visibility, and stakeholder engagement. Supporting the head of global corporate communications, you will oversee high-impact initiatives including financial communications, investor relations content development messaging, M&A, media relations, and executive communications for the CEO. This role is pivotal in navigating issues and crisis communications, including cybersecurity and organizational change, while also driving alignment across corporate communication policies. You will also shape the global philanthropy approach and, in particular, the disaster relief activities as needed. You will play a critical leadership role in safeguarding and shaping the company’s voice during transformative moments and ensuring clarity, consistency, and trust with internal and external stakeholders.
The position is based at the company’s HQ in Basel, Switzerland.
This position reports to the head of global corporate communications and philanthropy of Straumann Group.
Key responsibilities:
* You will drive Straumann Group’s reputation as a global leader in tooth replacement, orthodontic and digital solutions by developing compelling stories that position Straumann Group.
* You will serve as the deputy lead for global corporate communications, supporting overall function management and acting on behalf of the head when needed.
* You will act as a strategic advisor to senior executives, particularly in high-impact or sensitive communications moments.
* You will shape the company’s narrative in alignment with corporate strategy, business performance, and reputational priorities.
* Financial and investor communications.
* You will lead communications around financial results, Capital Markets Days (CMD), and key investor milestones.
* You will partner with Investor Relations to translate financial performance into clear and compelling messaging for investors, media, employees, and other stakeholders.
* Executive communications.
* You will drive and support high-level communications for the CEO, including speeches, thought leadership, global messaging, and stakeholder engagement.
* M&A and corporate events.
* You will lead or support communication strategies for M&A transactions, strategic partnerships, and restructuring efforts.
* You will ensure timely, accurate, and aligned messaging to internal and external audiences during sensitive business events.
* Media Relations and crisis communications.
* You will oversee proactive and reactive media engagement, building strong relationships with key journalists and outlets.
* Lead or co-lead crisis communications, including issues management and cybersecurity incidents, in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
* Change communications (external and internal).
* You will partner with HR and leadership on communication strategies around organizational transformation and restructuring when needed.
* Ensure change communications are empathetic, clear, and aligned across regions and functions.
* Policy oversight.
* You will support the development and enforcement of global corporate communications policies and protocols.
* You will ensure messaging governance and consistency across all external-facing corporate communications.
* Philanthropy and social impact.
* You will provide strategic oversight and communications guidance for global philanthropic and social impact initiatives.
* You will lead in times of need on disaster relief initiatives.
Qualifications:
* 15+ years of experience in corporate communications, media relations, or corporate affairs, ideally within large, international organizations.
* Deep expertise in executive communications, financial comms, and high-stakes corporate messaging (e.g. M&A, crisis).
* Experience in publicly listed companies or regulated industries.
* Issue and crisis management experience.
* Proven track record advising senior executives and managing complex, sensitive communications.
* Excellent writing, messaging, and storytelling skills across channels and formats.
* Strong media relations capabilities and established journalist relationships.
Required Knowledge and Personal attributes:
* We are looking for an individual who is fluent in English with excellent writing skills – German would be a strong plus, any other language is an advantage.
* Who is well-versed interacting with the media for a Swiss Stock Exchange listed company.
* With high level of discretion and sound judgment, especially under pressure.
* With exceptional stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
* With excellent influencing skills and an effective team player.
* With the ability to handle multiple projects.
* With a track-record in working in an international environment; work experience abroad and in a multi-brand organization is appreciated.
* With excellent communication skills.
