The ServiceNow CMDB/ITOM Specialist is tasked with designing, implementing, and managing the ServiceNow Configuration Management Database (CMDB). This position plays a critical role in maintaining the accuracy and reliability of the CMDB, ensuring it supports IT service management practices and enhances overall IT service delivery. Additionally, the role oversees the continuous improvement of Discovery processes and the integration of applications with the CMDB.
This is a hybrid role that requires both technical and functional expertise, demanding a deep knowledge of the technologies, tools, and workflows associated with ServiceNow CMDB, Discovery, and Service Mapping.
Primary Responsibilities
* Develop and Maintain CMDB: Ensure alignment with ITIL frameworks and organizational standards, specifically focusing on CSDM requirements.
* Lead CMDB Implementation: Oversee data modeling, integration with IT systems, and configuration management processes.
* Integrate ITSM Practices: Connect the CMDB with ITSM workflows (e.g., Incident and Change Management) to enable seamless data sharing and process automation.
* Implement Discovery & Service Graph: Drive CMDB population efforts for servers, networks, and Azure cloud resources using ServiceNow Discovery and Service Graph.
* Manage Service Mapping: Implement Service Mapping techniques, including traffic-based, tag-based, and manual methods.
* Oversee MID Servers: Manage and configure MID Servers for discovery and integration activities.
* Audit & Reconciliation: Conduct regular audits to validate the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of CMDB data.
* Process Optimization: Identify and execute improvements to streamline configuration management processes.
* Collaborate with Stakeholders: Engage IT teams, service owners, and other stakeholders to ensure the CMDB meets business requirements and supports IT objectives.
* Generate Insights: Create reports and analyze CMDB data to provide actionable insights into IT asset configurations and dependencies.
* Ensure Compliance: Adhere to policies, standards, and regulations related to configuration management practices.
* User Training & Support: Provide guidance and training to CMDB users, ensuring effective adoption and utilization of the platform.
Qualifications
* Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
* Experience: At least 6+ years of hands-on experience with ServiceNow CMDB, Discovery, and Service Mapping implementations.
* Certifications: Certified Implementation Specialist in Service Mapping (CIS-SM) and Discovery (CIS-Discovery).
* Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of networking concepts, server administration, Azure cloud infrastructure, databases, and certificate management.
* CSDM Expertise: Familiarity with the Common Services Data Model (CSDM).
* Added Advantage: Knowledge of ServiceNow Event Management.

* CMDB Expertise: Proficiency in CMDB data modeling, integration, Service Graph Connectors, IRE, Discovery Patterns, and Service Mapping techniques.
* Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets and derive actionable insights.
* Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of working effectively with diverse stakeholders.
* Project Management: Proven ability to lead and deliver CMDB-related projects with a focus on high-quality outcomes.
