Global Customs & Trade Compliance Lead
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the customs & trade compliance function globally at a prominent industrial & manufacturing company.
Your Key Responsibilities:
* Taking the content lead for major Customs and Trade Compliance topics including Origin, Customs Valuation, Export Controls, HS Classification, Import and Export Customs Procedures, and more
* Defining global customs and trade strategy in alignment with Global Supply Chain, Procurement, and other functions while ensuring organizational structures are in place
* Developing and updating Group guidelines and KPIs for customs, import and export compliance
* Identifying, analyzing, and implementing customs optimization opportunities through Free Trade Agreements and customs simplification schemes
* E nsuring compliance with global and local trade regulations, including export controls, sanctions, and dual-use laws, across Europe, the U.S., and other international markets
* Reviewing and optimizing product classification processes related to the Harmonized Schedule (HS) for enhanced accuracy and efficiency
* Developing and refining trade compliance programs to ensure alignment with evolving regulations and organizational goals
* Assessing global trade regulations, optimizing supply chain processes, and implementing cutting-edge IT solutions, such as SAP GTS, to ensure operational excellence
Required Qualifications:
* MBA or MA in law, customs, business administration, finance, or a related field
* 10+ years of experience in customs & trade, with 5+ years in a similar leadership role at a multinational corporation
* Extensive knowledge of international customs laws, Free Trade Agreements, tariff classifications, export controls, and customs valuation
* Strong operational background with hands-on experience in customs automation systems such as SAP GTS or other
* Fluency in English is essential; German is an advantage
