We are looking for you as our new Product Innovation Manager SDIS (Product Design & Development)(m/f/x). In this role you will be part of an inspired and dynamic team, shaping together the future of our advanced and innovative Straumann Dental Implant Systems (SDIS) Portfolio. The position is based in Basel, Switzerland and reports to the head of Product Innovation.
ROLE OVERVIEW
As a Product Innovation Manager SDIS, you will be at the intersection of digital/clinical workflows, technical expertise, and business strategy. You will identify emerging dental trends, evaluate digital advancements, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to create innovative solutions that enhance clinical workflows. Your engineering background and ability to work alongside clinicians will be essential in developing solutions that are both technically feasible and clinically relevant. You’ll be responsible for defining innovation priorities, and leading brainstorming sessions to drive our product Innovation initiatives forward. You will work in a diverse team of highly motivated colleagues. Collaboration will be key.
YOUR TASKS
* Trend Identification & Digital Advancement: Continuously monitor and evaluate emerging dental technologies and digital advancements. Identify relevant clinical workflows where innovation is needed to improve efficiency, patient outcomes, and clinical satisfaction.
* Design, create, and test new product concepts, together with your partners from Design Engineering. Accountable to perform proof of concept of new product ideas up to a level where it can be handed over to Product Design & Development.
* Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate strongly within a multidisciplinary team, leveraging your engineering expertise to bridge the gap between technical teams and clinical stakeholders. Work closely with Product Design & Development, Product Management, Clinical, Test & Operations and Innovation Lab teams to push pre-development projects forward. Act as a strong team player, organizing and leading brainstorming sessions that encourage creativity and collaboration across the team.
* Clinical Engagement: Engage with clinicians in real-world settings, ensuring that the solutions being developed are practical, clinically viable, and address real-world challenges. You may be required to participate in live surgeries or perform hands-on demonstrations to ensure product relevance.
* Innovation Strategy & Workflow Improvement: Lead the effort to define innovation priorities that align with both digital advancements and the clinical needs of our customers. Evaluate existing and future workflows and drive innovation where it can make the most impact.
YOUR PROFILE
* Degree in mechanical engineering, bioengineering, or related field of study.
* Several years’ experience in product design development in medical device or related areas; experience in dental implant/prosthetic development is a plus.
* An additional MBA and/or experience in a commercial role is a benefit.
* Strong understanding of dentistry, technologies, and industry trends is a plus.
* Ability to collaborate cross-functionally, with a focus on building partnerships across teams.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess market needs, customer feedback, and competitive landscapes.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly to a diverse audience.
* At ease to discuss new product ideas with customers trying to understand their needs behind their design proposals. Manage lively discussions where different stakeholders share different perspectives.
