Based on bio-inspired principles and novel biomimetic technologies, IREM research focuses on the replacement and/or regeneration of dysfunctional human cells, tissues or organs to restore or establish physiological functions. Thematic priorities are translational regenerative technologies (Emmert), cell-based regeneration and biomimetic tissue replacement (Hoerstrup), gene and cell therapy (Reichenbach), stem cell biology and cancer (Sendoel), and translational neuroregeneration (vacant).
