The Business Development Associate will play a significant role in growing ratings market presence in Latin America. They will identify and prospect new clients, maintain current client and market relationships, and identify/target new growth opportunities in the region working closely with the Managing Director to execute regional market development strategy, expansion of current territories, and renewal of current ratings.
Responsibilities
1. Identify opportunities within the Latin American insurance and reinsurance markets and create proposals of strategies / products / initiatives for the successful growth of AM Best's business in the region.
2. Maintain records of all market interactions, as necessary for regulatory compliance, and prepare management reports on targets and goals. Also, work with the Managing Director on the preparation of fees, maintenance of the financial records of clients, and ensure payments of contracts and renewals.
3. Initiate contact with prospective (re) insurance organizations and explain to them the value of an AM Best rating and how to participate in that process.
4. Speak with brokers, associations, regulators, and other interested parties regarding AM Best and its ratings.
5. Continuously research market development, regional press, and stakeholders for the purpose of identifying opportunities.
6. Assist the corporate public relations department in securing interviews.
7. Liaise with the events department to organize seminars by AM Best.
8. Travel within and beyond Mexico to contact potential clients and represent AM Best in attendance of conferences, seminars, and other market events.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Marketing, or Business Administration.
2. Minimum 1 to 2 years of (re)insurance experience (reinsurance a plus) in a broking/commercial/sales development capacity.
Skills
1. Candidate must be an energetic self-starter, capable of prospecting, identifying, and planning business opportunities.
2. Fluent in Spanish and English, conversational and written. Portuguese a plus.
3. Knowledge of the Ratings Industry recommended.
4. Highly organized and accurate record-keeper.
5. Effective communicator and a team player.
6. Must collaborate effectively with other departments in AMBAL and other offices worldwide.
7. Insurance Industry experience required.
