Head of Sixth Form Role Profile
Purpose of Role
We are seeking a Head of Sixth Form who will play a key role in ensuring a smooth transition into the A Level programme for all students, lead and maintain a wraparound model for all Sixth Form students, and set the tone for developing individual academic attainment and pastoral care support. We prioritise ensuring a unique, student-centered structure which sets ambitious yet realistic targets for our 6th Form students.
You will have the capacity to ensure a strong and well-defined University and College application process is a compelling feature of the BSG 6th Form. The successful candidate will be a dynamic leader from whom colleagues and students respond with inspiration to achieve, ‘Get better’ and ensure continued quality of experience and outcome permeates the 6th Form at BSG.
The Head of Sixth Form will work along with the rest of the Senior Leadership Team at whole school level to uphold the values and ethos of the British School of Geneva, promote the wellbeing of students, support the delivery of the curriculum, and maintain the school’s profile within the ISP group and in the wider community.
The role carries an expected teaching load of 6 class contact hours per week.
The School
The British School of Geneva is a school owned by the International Schools Partnership (ISP). Our A Level programme welcomes applications from global students with diverse educational backgrounds as well as those continuing forward from our own Key Stage 4. This means that we have a broad entry to 6th Form. It is vital that the Head of Sixth Form has the competence to guide, advise and nurture our students through A Level study and successfully onto their chosen course of University, College or further study.
Key Responsibilities
Overview the Curriculum and Teaching & Learning at Key Stage 5.
Overview the academic progress and pastoral care of Sixth Form students.
Lead for attendance, absence, assessment, reporting for Sixth Form.
Oversee the line management of a team of up to 10 teachers.
Co-lead on Ped Days with other SLT members.
Co-Lead on whole-school Teaching and Learning with Curriculum Leaders and SLT.
Co-Lead on ISP Learning Improvement Plan and School Improvement Plan.
Lead on ensuring continued enrolment in Sixth Form @50 with KPI of 5% growth target per annum.
Lead in promoting the A Level programme and Sixth Form enrolment (establishing contacts, making presentations, open day events, etc.).
Lead on Future Pathways (university applications, careers).
Serve as the Exams Officer responsible for coordinating A Level and IGCSE examinations, managing both internal and external candidates.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent with experience of teaching Key Stages 3-5.
Proven Knowledge of the A Level programme essential.
Proven Capacity to work with international students.
Proven Capacity to lead in stretching students, as well as supporting students.
Proven Inclusion oriented approach.
Proven capability to guide and advise re applications to Third Level Courses.
IT literate and comfortable to use a variety of online platforms.
Attention to detail.
Willingness to develop the existing programme further.
Knowledge of UCAS essential (university application systems worldwide desirable).
