Under the supervision of the Director, Cocoa Sourcing & Risk Management, the individual will be responsible for overseeing the overall Cocoa category strategy and executing key components. This role involves ensuring financial delivery related to our physical cocoa book, supply continuity, and operational performance of our supply base along with associated metrics.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Developing and Maintaining Category Sourcing Strategy:
o Source physical cocoa requirements across Hershey that meet current and future business needs in terms of Sustainability, Reliability, and Affordability;
o Manage the assessment, selection, and development of suppliers to meet requirements and performance Key Performance Indicators (KPIs);
o Ensure appropriate agreements and contracts are in place to provide necessary safeguards and manage against these contracts;
o Research developing technologies, supply chain capacity/capabilities, and supply/demand challenges;
o Understand key sustainability requirements relating to the category; work closely with the Sustainable Sourcing team to deliver these while enhancing transparency in the supply chain and ensuring appropriate due diligence on key risks and mitigation activities;
o Develop risk management strategies using forward contracts and supplier monitoring in alignment with the company's business plans;
o Monitor and report on conditions/trends in the physical cocoa market to relevant colleagues and leadership as needed, as well as relevant market information to other functional areas such as Quality, Research, and Development, Plant Operations, and Manufacturing Alliances.
2. Supply Continuity and Continuous Improvement:
o Establish a long-term roadmap to ensure sourcing flexibility, substitution opportunities, and feedstock flexibility;
o Ensure Business Continuity Plans are in place;
o Build a strong network and lead collaboration with Supply Chain, Research and Development, and other departments to achieve continuous improvement (cost savings, quality improvements, alternate supplier qualifications, supplier diversity), working capital improvement, and identify and lead innovation sourcing.
3. Operational Excellence:
Lead supplier relationships, drive supplier performance, monitor financial viability, and work with procurement colleagues to minimize supply disruptions to our plants. Perform root cause analysis and develop/monitor supplier improvement plans.
