Job Description
We seek a highly motivated post-doctoral researcher with expertise in Amazonian languages to collaborate with the QUANTA team at ETH Zürich, led by PI Rafael Núñez. The successful candidate will engage closely with researchers from University of Bergen, Norway (PI Andrea Bender), Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig, Germany (PI Russell Gray), and University of Bordeaux-CNRS, France (PI Francesco d'Errico).
* The selected candidate will investigate quantification and numeral systems in Amazonian languages in detail.
* They will participate in the research team's academic and social activities.
* The working language is English.
* The positions are full-time, defaulting to 41 hours per week, but can be reduced for care-work, health, or wellbeing.
* The ideal start date is October 1, with flexibility; the position is initially one year (until September 30) at ETH Zurich, with the possibility of extension at the QUANTA headquarters, University of Bergen, Norway.
Your Profile
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
* Hold a doctoral degree in linguistic anthropology (or related fields) prior to starting at ETH Zürich.
* Demonstrate expertise and an excellent track record in linguistic anthropology, preferably studying Amazonian languages or cultures.
* Be able to initiate intriguing research sub-projects that can be developed independently, yet collaboratively within the QUANTA multi-disciplinary team.
