The Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research (FMI) is seeking a Data Scientist specialized in Image Analysis to join its Facility for Advanced Imaging and Microscopy.
This facility supports FMI scientists and collaborators by providing cutting-edge light and electron microscopy, high-content screening, image analysis, and spatial-transcriptomics services to address fundamental biomedical questions.
In this role, you will develop and implement image-processing and analysis workflows for various research projects across multiple groups. Additionally, you will assess the image processing and analysis needs of microscopy-based research projects.
* Design FAIR processing pipelines that are findable, accessible, interoperable, and reproducible.
* Communicate results to a diverse audience of experimental scientists.
About You
To succeed in this position, you should possess a PhD or MSc in computer science, biomedical-image analysis, or a related data-science field. You must also demonstrate strong programming and data-analysis skills in Python.
* Show a solid understanding of machine-learning and deep-learning technologies.
* Be able to thrive in a collaborative environment and learn from others.
* Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with scientists.
* Be self-motivated and capable of working independently and within a team.
* Show a proven track record in collaborative software development.
* Have experience working within a Linux HPC environment and data-parallel processing.
* Familiarize yourself with bio-image analysis software tools like Fiji, CellProfiler, and Napari.
* Analyze images from diverse microscopy modalities, including high-content screening, electron microscopy, light-sheet microscopy, and confocal microscopy.
