The Genome Center is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated IT professional to oversee, manage, and enhance the IT infrastructure, support operations, and security of the center’s computing environment. This position is integral to ensuring smooth day-to-day operations for both internal teams and external clients while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and adapting to potential future cloud-based infrastructure. The infrastructure is part of the ISO15189 accreditation environment (knowledge in the ISO accreditation is a plus).
Key Responsibilities
Core IT Operations
* Linux Troubleshooting: Manage and resolve technical issues in a Linux-based environment.
* Application Stack Management: Build and maintain Singularity containers for running specific application stacks.
* Documentation Maintenance: Ensure all IT-related documentation is up-to-date and accessible.
* Regular Maintenance: Conduct application patching and perform routine updates to ensure operational efficiency and security.
* Public SFTP and File Sharing: Maintain and troubleshoot public SFTP services, file-sharing systems, and associated tools (e.g., CSA and sample info sheet forms).
* Vendor Coordination: Collaborate with software vendors for maintenance, support, and troubleshooting.
* Firewall Configuration: Enable, disable, or modify firewall rules as per user and customer requirements.
User and Customer Support
* Internal User Assistance: Provide technical support and guidance to internal staff on IT-related issues.
* External Customer Assistance: Address customer queries, assist with system access, and troubleshoot issues with shared services.
IT Security and Compliance
* IT Security Management: Oversee IT security management, including performing risk assessments, reviewing the Statement of Applicability, and maintaining compliance with QMS and regulatory standards.
* Risk Assessment: Evaluate IT-related risks and implement mitigation strategies to protect infrastructure and data integrity.
Future Cloud-Based Operations (if applicable)
* Cloud Transition and Operations: Support the transition to cloud infrastructure and manage associated operations.
* Billing Monitoring: Track and monitor cloud usage and associated costs to ensure budgetary compliance.
Scope Exclusions (if transitioned to the cloud)
* Patching (Linux, switches, firewall)
* Hardware monitoring, maintenance, and upgrades
* Tape import/export operations
* Vendor coordination for hardware-related issues
* RFP preparation and paperwork for infrastructure expansion
Qualifications and Skills
* Proven experience in Linux administration and troubleshooting.
* Expertise in application stack management, especially Singularity container builds.
* Strong understanding of IT security management principles and compliance standards.
* Experience with firewall management, user support, and vendor coordination.
* Ability to maintain clear and accurate documentation.
* Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and cost monitoring is a plus.
* Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively.
