About Roche's Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development
We make transformative medicines for patients to tackle some of the world's toughest unmet healthcare needs.
Our culture is defined by curiosity, responsibility, and humility, where talented people are empowered and inspired to bring forward life-changing innovation at speed.
Institute of Human Biology (IHB)
The IHB harnesses and advances the use of human model systems in drug discovery and development, as well as personalized medicine.
We bridge academic and pharmaceutical research, connecting biologists, engineers, and data scientists through interdisciplinary research.
We partner with leading scientific institutions worldwide to assemble, fund, and lead teams to tackle grand challenges.
Role Mission
Join our team in close collaboration with the Neurosciences and Rare Disease Discovery Translation Area within pRED.
As a research associate, you will play a key role in characterizing iPSC-derived cell types of the central nervous system with Alzheimer's disease-related mutations.
Our vision is to establish foundational in vitro technology for drug profiling by synergizing with expertise at the IHB.
Your Impact
1. Characterize iPSC- and fibroblast-based models of Alzheimer's disease
2. Contribute to the generation of new iPSC models with CRISPR engineering
3. Maintain stem cell and primary cell cultures
4. Support the development of in vitro assays
5. Rigorously document protocols and experimental results
6. Present data at internal meetings
Your Profile
MSc with several years of experience in stem cell research or recent PhD graduates.
Hands-on expertise on stem-cell derived models of human brain cell types, biochemistry, molecular biology, immunohistochemistry, and basic microscopy.
Experience working with CRISPR engineering of mammalian cell lines in a BSL2 environment.
You have demonstrated the ability to navigate a matrix environment to effectively influence, advise, or consult experts.
A strong work ethic, communication skills, and team-player oriented personality are essential.
Fluency in English is required.
